In response to recent developments surrounding the COVID-19 virus, our programs have implemented several changes to services.

In order to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission to our patients, we are screening our clients by phone before appointments and at doors when they arrive to assess risk of infection. We currently have a team of telepsychiatry experts and leaders working to take advantage of the new options for telehealth for some of our most at risk patients with plans to implement across our services as we learn more about the process.

Several community events, including our monthly Opioid Overdose Prevention Training Program and the Eastman Performing Arts Medicine Performance Series in our main atrium, have also been canceled until further notice. In addition, the Family Lounge sponsored by the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester is closed until further notice.

In Memoriam

Margaret "Peg" Bushey  passed on March 9 after a long life of service to those living with mental health challenges in Rochester. She joined our department in 1962 as a staff nurse, started our Extended Care Clinic for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and eventually became the Director of the Continuing Day Treatment Program. Heather Muxworthy, NP, DNP writes the following about Peg.

"I offered to write something in honor of my colleague and friend Peg Bushey. I stewed over where to begin. How do you describe a 30 year professional and personal friendship with someone iconic like Peg. I thought about ICARE. Peg was the true definition of ICARE. She had so much integrity, so much compassion. It was seen by both staff and patients every day. Peg had a way of making new patients or staff immediately feel included and welcomed. . . As Carole Farley-Toombs once said, it is impossible to know how many lives you touched and influenced. You did well my friend, you did well. May you rest in peace knowing that you’ve touched so many us on a true personal level." READ MORE>>>
