Barnard College Update - Monday, Aug. 8, 2016

Dear Claremont resident:

We our continuing the rock excavation work this week on our regular schedule of 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. We also want to let you know that Con Edison has informed us that they are scheduled to install infrastructure upgrades along Claremont Ave. between W. 116th and W. 120th for at least the next two weeks.

Con Ed officials shared with us that portions of Claremont will be periodically closed, that parking on both sides of the street will be limited, and that they will have flag people directing traffic and assisting those crossing the street.  In addition, the Department of Transportation (DOT) is working on re-paving Claremont from Tiemann Place to W. 116th so they will be on the street periodically evaluating that work. At this time, we understand they are coordinating with Con Ed to ensure that the sequence of operations allows for the re-paving to happen after Con Ed is finished.

Also, a reminder: Barnard will be holding construction drop-in hours on Wednesday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. - noon and from 4 - 5 p.m. in Mehler Parlor in the lobby of Elliott Hall (49 Claremont).  We'll have members of our team available to answer your questions and share the schematic drawings that show the next phases of the project.

We appreciate your continued patience and consideration of the rock excavation of our site, especially in light of the work being done by other building owners, agencies and utility providers.
