Art Moves brings Hartel dancers to Museum Theater Art Moves, presented by Devon, brings its free series of live lunchtime performances to the air-conditioned comfort of downtown Oklahoma City’s Museum Theater at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 15. The theater is inside the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, 415 Couch Drive. The acclaimed Hartel Dance Group, in collaboration with local composer and visual artist Aaron Robinson, will perform Network, a one-of-a-kind interactive piece consisting of live video and audio triggered by the movements of the dancers. “This is a chance to see a completely unique performance that will never be repeated exactly the same way again,” said Angela Hodgkinson, director of Art Moves. “We are especially thrilled to present a piece of this magnitude in a shorter, hour-long timeframe. What a chance to see some amazing local artists at work while on your lunch break – and for free.” Network explores the social networks we create in the digital age. The construction of a repetitive musical theme is created through the use of live sensors and trigger points on stage, which the dancers set off with their movements. The theme is supplemented visually with projections of both pre-recorded video and live-captured video of the dancers themselves. The looping of the dance and the virtual relationship onstage is intended to capture the sense of the always-on, continuously connected society in which we live. Art Moves typically allows food and drinks at its downtown-area venues, but that’s not possible inside the theater. So, plan accordingly (the Museum Café is a good choice), and don’t miss this unique and entertaining performance. Visit artscouncilokc.com to learn more about the artists and for a map of all Art Moves venues.
