Editor's note

Every few years our pollies get on the “obesity crisis” bandwagon and pledge to solve it. But then it would appear they realise the barriers to tackling it, and it drops off the radar for a while. And in this short video, nobel laureate Peter Doherty explains why he’s enormously proud to be a Friend of The Conversation. If you value evidence-based, independent media, you can join him.
