Federal rules that govern every aspect of commercial flight and general aviation in the United States – and the money to implement them – are up in the air as Congress tackles reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration. The massive bill could address much-needed modernization of the air traffic control network. It could set drone regulations; increase the cap on what airports can charge passengers for expansion projects; change subsidies for service to rural airports; modify rules that affect the flying public, including tarmac delay limits, seat size and the ways in which airlines are allowed to share flights. On-the-record experts and journalists will make this free morning briefing a valuable tool for any journalist whose beat touches on travel, infrastructure or Congress.
