WSU Vancouver will graduate 975 students at its 2015 commencement ceremony at 1 p.m. May 9 at Amphitheater Northwest in Ridgefield. Chancellor Mel Netzhammer will preside over the ceremony. Christina Hamilton and Breanna Shores, graduating seniors and ASWSUV senators, will deliver the commencement address.

Vancouver IT releases 2015 TechQual+ IT Survey Report
Campus CIO Michael Stamper and the Vancouver IT team worked this spring to conduct the first TechQual+ survey on the Vancouver campus and compile the results. The full report is
now available.
The survey is designed to understand how students, faculty and staff perceive the quality of information technology services on campus. Vancouver IT would like to thank the 379 students, 90 faculty and 100 staff members who completed the survey. Wi-Fi service, cellular coverage and ease of use of the Learning Management System (Angel/Blackboard) were the most-often mentioned pain points for respondents. The results will help WSU Vancouver to identify and prioritize
improvements for IT services.

Students coordinating Nepali relief efforts
The Nepali Student's Association at WSU is a non-profit, non-political organization formed and operated by Nepali students studying at WSU. The club is a support organization for students from Nepal, and it promotes awareness about the country’s rich art, culture and traditions. The devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25 has left its citizens with an immediate need for basic supplies such as clean drinking water, food, shelter and medical supplies. The Nepali Students’ Association is coordinating relief efforts at WSU. You can help earthquake victims by donating
online.

“Vet 201: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury” is part two of a two-part series on understanding the needs and barriers of veteran students. Attendance at Vet 101 is not a prerequisite. In this workshop participants will:
Learn to identify the role trauma-based triggers may play in impeding student success
Understand how war-zone experiences may interfere with
productivity in a learning environment
Learn how to respond effectively to the needs of veteran students
If you have questions, please contact Veterans Coordinator Krista Griffin at 6-9570.
Albert lounged in the grass next to the quad at Washington State University Vancouver, panting as his tongue stretched out of his mouth. He sprawled out, plopping his head on the ground as students knelt beside him and ran their hands over his tan coat. He rolled onto his back, encouraging the strangers to rub his belly. For the 5-year-old Leonberger, it was all in an afternoon’s work.
Academic Director Jane Cote and Associate Professor of Accounting Claire Latham won Best Paper in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum at the Western Region American Accounting Association meeting in Coronado, Calif. last week. Their paper shows that ethical values are more effectively taught when they are introduced at several stages in the curriculum, not just in one standalone course.
