CAUGHT BETWEEN WORLDS

The Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2010 has awarded its People’s Choice Award to Adelaide based artist Thomas Buchanan and his work Lost Landscape II . After six weeks of collecting over 1000 entries from visitors to the Caloundra Regional Gallery, Lost Landscape II became a clear favorite with its multilayered depiction of a built environment and was awarded the $2500 cash prize.

'Lost Landscape II explores the strange beauty and sense of alienation which comes from these urban environments. Leading to questions of how we, as humans, inhabit the infinite, built landscape and how I place myself in this ever changing world,' explains Buchanan.

While the Sunshine Coast Art Prize is now closed for another year, artists are encouraged to log on to the website www.scap.org.au and subscribe to the e-newsletter so that they have plenty of notice to enter the prize between January and March 2011.
