2nd Grade eNews

Wow! We’ve learned so much in just the few weeks! I look forward to seeing all the dads at Dads and Donuts Friday, September 13!

Next Week

  • Bible - We are continuing our study on Moses.  For the next two weeks, we will be memorizing the Ten Commandments from the King James version of the Bible. The reason we memorize from this version is because this is the one that is usually displayed in public settings. On this Friday, the students will need to know the Commandments 1-5, and next Friday, they will say all of the Commandments. A helpful worksheet is coming home today in their planner to help you work with your child on these.
  • Reading - We will continue to work on our character skill through a story called “Teacher’s Pets.”
  • Writing - We will continue working on using a character map and write about our grandparents.
  • Spelling - Our focus will be on vowel consonant e syllable (long o and long u vowel sound - examples - tone, tube)
  • Grammar - We will be discussing nouns.
  • Social Studies - We will work on learning about the types of communities.
  • Math - This week our skills include subtracting up to 8, identifying half of a group, creating and analyzing bar graphs, temperature, and review solid shapes. We will continue to do a speed drills every day except on test day, so be sure your child is practicing their math facts. We will have a math test on Friday.
