Spring Cleaning for Safety: Let's De-clutter Together!

As we journey through life, our relationship with possessions evolves. From the desire for acquisitions in youth to the simplicity of decluttering in later years, this journey encompasses both physical belongings and our digital footprint.

Much like filling up our garages and then seeking out storage units, our digital data expands from hard drives to cloud storage. Let's relate this to our Eagleton Community.

Over the years, our "gate access visitors list" has accumulated entries from family, friends, and contractors. However, without periodic purging, these lists can swell to over 350+ names per household, many of which are likely outdated.

The crux of the matter lies in questioning the necessity of each entry on our list. Beyond clutter, this digital accumulation also carries financial implications, impacting HOA and POA fees.

Moreover, a bloated visitors list poses security risks by granting access to individuals whose circumstances may have changed. It's imperative for Eagleton residents to undertake a digital spring cleaning, not just for personal security but for the safety of our entire community.

We encourage all Eagleton residents to prioritize safety by reviewing and deleting unnecessary entries from their gate access lists. This periodic cleanse not only reflects the strength of our community relationships but also minimizes security risks.

Let's join forces in the spirit of spring cleaning to uphold a safe and serene community for all.

Safety is a top priority of your Championship Board of Directors!

Championship Back Gate

We're excited to report on the continuation of improvements to the resident-only gate into Eagleton on General Drive.

Progress may seem slow due to the necessity of engaging various contractors and securing numerous approvals from both the PGA Architectural Committee (ARC) and the City of Palm Beach Gardens, but rest assured, progress is being made.

The initial phase, which involved the removal of overgrown bushes and hedges along the side of the roadway, has been successfully completed, with fresh landscaping now in place.

Moving forward, our focus shifts to redesigning the walls to harmonize with the main entry off of Ryder Cup Boulevard, along with the installation of new signage akin to the front entry. As expected, this phase also entails coordination with multiple contractors and obtaining necessary permits.

Throughout the spring and summer, our aim is to bring this project to fruition, timed with the return of our seasonal residents in the fall.

We understand that this process may seem protracted, but we sincerely appreciate your patience and support as we undertake these vital updates and enhancements.

Championship Annual Meeting

Unfortunately, the Annual Meeting of our Championship Property Owners Association couldn't be conducted this year due to the lack of a quorum. Our Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws require 30% of the 663 homeowners (199) to be either in attendance or to submit a proxy authorizing someone to vote in their stead.

Despite being properly scheduled and announced for March 27, 2024, only a total of 88 members were either in attendance or had submitted a proxy. Consequently, no business of the Association could be conducted, including the election of Directors to the Board. As a result, the current Board members will remain in place until the 2025 Annual Meeting when hopefully a quorum will be represented.

The current Board of Directors consists of the following representatives:

  • Tom Murphy, Eagleton Lakes - President
  • Tom Sedita, Augusta Pointe - Vice President
  • Paul Slepakoff, Pinehurst - Treasurer
  • Patti Rosen, Eagleton Estates - Secretary
  • David Ahr, Eagleton Cove - Director
  • Ed Finkelstein, Monterey Pointe - Director
  • Dianne Silich, Grand Cay - Director

  • Automated License Plate Recognition Camera

The Championship POA, in an effort to prevent, reduce, and solve crimes, recently approved a one-year contract for the installation of a Flock Falcon License Plate Recognition (LPR) camera at the entry to Eagleton off of Ryder Cup Boulevard.

The camera sends real-time alerts to the Palm Beach Gardens Police when a stolen motor vehicle or known wanted suspect from a state or national crime database is detected. The camera also sends real-time alerts if it detects a vehicle associated with a missing person's case, as indicated by an AMBER or Silver Alert.

The Flock Safety system helps law enforcement investigate crime by providing the objective evidence needed to detect and clear cases. According to the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), 7 in 10 crimes are committed with a vehicle. Additionally, 97% of car thieves are charged with additional crimes, including robbery, burglary, theft, drug trafficking, and violent crimes.

LPR cameras capture license plates and vehicle characteristics, such as make, model, and color. Importantly, they do not capture identifiable images of individuals or utilize facial recognition software.

Flock Safety cameras are utilized in more than 4,000 communities nationwide, and the company collaborates with over 3,000 law enforcement agencies. The Palm Beach Gardens Police are currently in the process of installing 30 of these cameras, while the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office has already installed numerous cameras and plans for further installations.

    Sprinklers and Sidewalks

We have recently received several comments regarding the sprinklers in the area of Reclinata Circle during the early dawn hours. We apologize if residents and guests have had to step into the street to avoid the sprinkler water.

The sprinklers in the Reclinata area are controlled by the same timer that also controls, at different times, the Eagleton Pointe sprinklers. Unfortunately, the timer got out of sync, and at the same time, there was a time change to Daylight Saving Time on March 10th. The combination of these two issues is what caused the problem.

The timer for the Reclinata area has now been reset to start at 3:00 AM and run for 1 hour and 40 minutes, shutting down at 4:40 AM.

Again, we believe the problem is now solved. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience caused.
