Welcome to the October 2016 edition of the Employability in Scotland e-bulletin
As we announced in the special edition E-Bulletin last week we are holding supplier information events for the 2018 Scottish Employability Support Services. These events will provide the opportunity for attendees to network with potential delivery partners and learning from the events may help to shape our requirement prior to the start of the formal advertising and competitive tendering process which we expect to being in February 2017.
The Glasgow event is now fully booked however spaces are available at our Edinburgh event on 01/12/16 and our Inverness event on 29/11/16. Please book your space through the following links:
These meetings will be held on a “without commitment” basis and will have no bearing on supplier evaluation or selection. Attendance will not affect your involvement in the later tendering process.
We have also received a phenomenal response to our request for expressions of interest to attend the inaugural Ministerial Summit on Employability in Glasgow on 23/11/16. Due to the high level of demand we will be unable to accommodate every request we have received, we are however extremely grateful for the interest shown, it illustrates again the energy and willingness to engage that typifies the sector. We will be in touch once the invite list is confirmed.
The Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy, Paul Wheelhouse MSP, chaired a meeting of the Ministerial PACE Partnership on 4 October 2016. The Partnership brings 21 organisations together with the Scottish Government to oversee a continuous improvement programme to enhance the operation of PACE.
At the meeting IFF Research gave a presentation on the key findings of the PACE Client Experience Survey 2016, a major survey which is carried out every two years to gain an understanding of the influence and effectiveness of PACE support. Key findings from this year’s research indicate that PACE is perceived as having a positive influence on people’s ability to find work and that from those individuals surveyed 71% had secured new employment. The figure of 71% of clients who managed to secure new work represents a significant increase over the 51% figure of the first survey carried out in 2010.
Living Wage Week will take place this week, beginning with the new rate being announced on Monday morning. Events will follow throughout the week involving the First Minister and a number of Cabinet Secretaries and Ministers. Further information can be found here.
Finally, don’t forget to keep in touch. We are always happy to receive your case studies, examples of good practice and your contributions for the Employability in Scotland website and e-bulletin.
Best wishes
