Vision for Haiti
We are pilgrims on a journey.
Haiti is the largest diocese in The Episcopal Church. Forty-six clergy serve some 200 churches, 254 schools, two hospitals. and 13 clinics, making The Episcopal Church’s outreach greater than the sum of our parts. Although many of the Church’s facilities were destroyed in the January 2010 earthquake, some have already been rebuilt. Thus, visitors to Haiti see resurrection-in-progress – the tragic before and the revitalized after – of the massive destruction.
To experience the joy and the sorrow of the Church’s work in Haiti, the Development Office leads pilgrimages into this heart of mission. Participants worship, eat, share, and visit with Haitian brothers and sisters, who are undaunted and inspiring in their vitality and joy in the face of continued deprivation.
