road trip!

Summer is finally here and many of us Modo members are finalizing our vacation plans – road trip, anyone? Modo vehicles can be driven anywhere in Canada and the US for up to 30 days.

If you are planning a trip longer than 10 days in a Modo vehicle, please get in touch with our staff. We’ll ensure the vehicle you want has been mechanically inspected and is ready to roll.

Don’t forget that Modo offers a travel insurance perk through The Co-operators: up to 15% discount on their travel insurance packages. Visit our Perks page to learn more. And don’t forget to send in your road trip photos! Facebook Like Button

Tip: if going across the border, spend some extra time inspecting your Modo vehicle. Remove any items that don’t belong to you or to the vehicle.

Get in touch with Modo if you're planning a trip longer than 10 days in a Modo vehicle.

fines + infringements

As a not-for-profit co-op, we don’t particularly enjoy charging fines to our members. Fines are designed to remind members to carshare in a way that keeps our vehicles working and available for all members.  Please review our Carsharing Handbook from time to time (bookmark it for easy access!) – it’s always a good refresher especially if you haven’t used a Modo car in a while.

Some quick tips:

  • turn off all lights and remove the key from the ignition at the end of your booking to avoid draining the battery
  • fob out each and every time you leave a Modo vehicle
  • call Modo or use our website to extend your booking well before you might be late – you can always shorten your booking again after the car is back
  • check the vehicle for damage at the beginning and end of your booking – including the tires – and report damage to Modo

Our fines serve as reminders to members; they are at best revenue-neutral and for the most part do not fully cover our costs. Please help us keep our co-op healthy by carsharing by the rules!

found something?

Did you find something that another member has left in a Modo vehicle? The best thing to do is to leave the item in the vehicle’s glove box or trunk; usually the person who has left the item behind will make arrangements to retrieve it.

We don’t have storage capacity at our office to hang on to found items. Please don’t bring found items to our office – the vehicle’s glove box or trunk is the best place! If our fleet staff discover items that have been left in vehicles over long periods of time, we will then remove them.
