Welcome to the June newsletter

Dear

A warm welcome to the June newsletter.

As June comes to a close we are very much looking forward to celebrating with our Class of 2022 who will be graduating in July. We'll be sharing their many success stories across our social media channels throughout the month.

Campus is looking as brilliant as ever. See more pictures on our Alumni Facebook page.

Sad news about our former Principal Professor Mary Hallaway OBE

We are very sorry to share the sad news that Professor Mary Hallaway OBE, the former Principal of Trinity and All Saints College and Honorary Fellow of the University, recently passed away peacefully after a short illness.

Mary was the Principal of Trinity and All Saints College from 1980 to 1989, bringing together the previously separate All Saints and Trinity Colleges. Read more about Mary.

90s football reunion

Well done to alumnus Angus Martin (Sport, Health and Leisure/Media, 1998) in organising another great reunion footballl match.

Angus recruited enough fellow alumni from the 90s for two full teams who fought a close and entertaining match. See more pictures.

Special feature on Arnaldo

Keep your eyes on the Alumni Facebook page as in July we will be running a special feature on the amazing story of alumnus Arnaldo Rodriguez (pictured on the left).

We will share Arnaldo's journey from Venezuela to Leeds Trinity and his days as a student studying Communication Arts and Media (1978-1981).

He is pictured with fellow alumnus and best friend BAFTA Award-nominated English film and television director, Julian Jarrold.

Honorary Fellows event

We will  be holding a special event on Monday 25 July from 6.00pm to award Honorary Fellowships to 12 inspirational individuals with connections to the University, and celebrate the wider Honorary Fellows community at Leeds Trinity.

Three of the recipients are Leeds Trinity alumni. They are Fiona May (Double Olympic medal winner and three-times World Championship winner in the Long Jump), Mobben Azhar (BAFTA award winning Journalist and Film Maker) and John Flanagan (Humanitarian, helping underprivileged people in the Philippines).

If you would like to attend the event please visit our Eventbrite page to register.

Featured alumni – Eilidh Masson-Walker

We are delighted this month to share the story of Eilidh (Counselling Psychology, 2022), who is not only one of our 2022 leavers but someone who also undertook an internship in the Alumni Office.

Eilidh was an incredible asset in the office and was also a student ambassador throughout her time at Leeds Trinity:

"I became a student ambassador in my first year and this was the best decision I made at university. Most of my friends at university were made through this role as it allowed me to meet people on different courses and in different years that I would not have met otherwise."

We were very proud and delighted that Eilidh secured a full-time role before even graduating.
