1st Grade eNews

We hope your Christmas break has been restful and relaxing!

January 4-8, 2021

  • Bible - Elijah and the Widow & Elijah and the False Prophets
  • Verse - Philippians 2:4, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interest of others.”
  • Spelling - Vowel Team -ai (long a sound: rain, plain, trail, braid)
  • Reading & Phonics - Read “Let’s Go to the Moon”; practice reading words with vowel teams; introduce Author’s Purpose
  • Grammar & Writing - Complete sentences, practice marking sentences; practice finding nouns, adjectives and verbs; write Squiggle stories & friendly letter
  • Math - Subtraction facts; introduce centimeters; ½ & ¼, combining coins
  • Science/Social Studies - How Plants Grow

Important Dates

  • January 4 - First day of the Second Semester
  • January 18 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - No School (unless we need to make up a snow day)

Reminder

Please remember to send a warm coat each day.  Even on really cold days we try to go outside for a short time.
