Trust the people: the prospects for an Australian republic Join the Director of the Australian Republic Movement, Michael Cooney, and a panel to debate the case for an Australian republic. Trust the people is the first public debate presented by Democracy 2025’s Talking Democracy series. Regular events will be held throughout the year. MoAD has a rich collection of clothing, each with their own unique story to tell, about the wearer, the time and place and our social fabric. One of these items is a pair of red shoes donated by Julie Bishop. The shoes, which are currently on display at MoAD, symbolise the powerful political statement a single item of clothing can make.
