We are making an appeal to you as a Hope Force Reservist, asking that you please consider participating in the relief efforts in Selma, Alabama.
Thursday afternoon, Selma, Alabama experienced the horrors of a winter tornado ripping through the community. The tornado tore across the town leaving several communities in shambles. Low income neighborhoods and once beautiful, stately historic homes all suffered wind, tree and debris damage.
Our advance team arrived today to assess the damage and we met Miss Arnetta. A massive oak tree was laying across to top of her home with branches sticking into the bed where she had been resting only moments before. She told us, "I got down on my knees then and there to thank God that I was ok and made it out safely. My neighbors have been incredible, and they are helping me with transportation, cutting up the tree on my house and even helping to patch up my house."
Miss Arnetta is one of many who have suffered great loss in the wake of this terrible tornado. We are asking you to come and deploy with us to help with much needed assistance on behalf of the residents of Selma.
This will be a roof tarping deployment, and you are needed! Even if you are not comfortable on a roof, you are still needed in other areas of service. This will be an excellent opportunity to put your love of God into compassionate action on behalf of people who are in great need of help and hope in this dark hour.
