2nd Grade eNews
We hope your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break. We all have so much to be thankful for! Please keep this newsletter for the week after Thanksgiving.
Academics
-
Bible - We will continue to work on Elijah, using I Kings 18:1-45.
-
Memory Verse - 2 Corinthians 3:12, “Therefore, having such a hope, we use great boldness.”

Reading - We will read a story called “Schools around the World.” Our target skill will be Main Idea and Details.

Spelling - We will continue with the Bossy R word patterns. This week we will focus on words with ar and or. These sounds are R-controlled sounds. Here are some examples: chart harp park march stork storm thorn snort

Grammar - We will work on using irregular verbs correctly. Some of the irregular verbs we will be working with are: have has had do does did
-
Math - We will continue working on thermometer readings, 3-digit addition with carrying in tens/hundreds’ place, addition and subtraction facts to 15, and elapsed time.
Important Dates

November 21-25 - Thanksgiving Break - NO SCHOOL

December 1 - All School Christmas Chapel 9:15 a.m. & 6:30 p.m. Second Graders will be singing - look for details in Mrs. Darr’s email.

December 2 - $9 due for Christmas Present

December 14 - 2nd Grade Field Trip to Shiloh Museum - details will come later

December 18 - Christmas Parties - 12:00 - Dismissal after the party - we will not have car line - if you can not make it to the Christmas party, please come inside to your child’s classroom to pick up your child by 12:45. We will not have bus or Extended Care on this day.
Reminder
As it gets colder, please make sure your child comes prepared to go outside. We go outside if at all possible. Be sure NAMES are on all coats, gloves, etc.
