This issue presents a collection of articles addressing various intellectual property relating to China, including a comparison between the copyrightability of game rules in China and the US, legal protection of literary roles in China drawing from the 'There They Were’ case and the protection of game mechanics. Continuing with the gaming theme, the temporarily free article from Jia Wang explores the challenges of applying copyright to gaming when players can shape their own experiences of a game. This issue concludes with a review of Duncan Matthews and Paul Torremans (eds), European Patent Law: The Unified Patent Court and the European Patent Convention.
