The proposals include price increases and potentially extending parking charges until 8pm, Monday - Saturday. The BID has submitted an objection to these proposals for several reasons, including: · Planned reductions in available car parking spaces with the temporary closure of Regent Road car park · Parking charges have already significantly increased in recent years · Altrincham is currently one of the very few successful town centres in the UK, but cost/availability of car parking is regularly quoted as a deterrent to footfall and investment. The consultation closes on January 2nd and we would encourage all businesses to have their say HERE ![]() 'Festive Favourite' Winners AnnouncedRun by Altrincham Unlimited, this year’s competition to find Altrincham’s ‘Festive Favourite’ business or shop front had over 30 entries. Judging took place last week when design expert Leanne Wookey, Director at NoChintz, the award-winning interior design and branding agency, toured the town. Throughout the week the competition also ran to find the ‘People’s Choice’ on Altrincham Today’s Facebook page. After more than 1,700 votes in total on Altrincham Today’s Facebook page, Gran T’s Coffee House on Stamford New Road was the overwhelming winner of the ‘People’s Choice’ award with 324 votes. Edit & Oak and Vintage Angel were selected by Leanne Wookey as joint winners, both businesses fulfilled all of the judging criteria and impressed Leanne with their outstanding entries. Leanne explained, “I had a fantastic day walking around visiting all the store owners and their teams who entered the competition and hearing how they approached their design. I was incredibly impressed with the amount of time and effort put in by all of them. I found it impossible to chose between my two favourites! “Edit & Oak’s display is traditional, festive & authentic. I loved the natural seasonal colours which were introduced by plants and berries as well as store products and the handmade stars made from Pussy Willow. The oak sleigh was a nod to the stores identity and I wanted to take everything home and hibernate for Christmas! “Vintage Angel’s window appealed to my inner magpie. It felt like the magic, excitement and intrigue of Christmas was framed within this window and I loved that everything in this shop front could be bought from the wrapping paper to Unicorns to even the paint!”. Competitions like this help to drive footfall into the town and give the participating businesses valuable exposure on social media.
