A Year for Edema
This past season saw a return to a cold and cloudy spring for most growers. This created challenges for growers that have not been seen in the past few years. One such problem is edema (oedema). Edema is a non-infectious, physiological disorder that commonly occurs on ivy geraniums, but is also seen on zonal geraniums, sweet potato vine, begonias, cacti and cleome. In some cases it has been seen in vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and tomatoes.
