Plus, for every toy you buy, IKEA is donating $1 to support children’s play and development programs around the world through its Let’s Play for Change campaign. The IKEA Toy Shop is heated and accepts credit/debit cards only.

Holiday Performances at the Square

Throughout the month of December, the Square will host fun and festive holiday performances by local school groups, choirs, dance troupes, and more like Montavilla Guitar Studio, The Vernon Choir, and The Flute Alliance. All performances are free to attend and will take place under the big tent next to Portland’s 75ft Douglas fir that shines bright. Click

Pioneer Courthouse Square has partnered with four of Portland's charitable organizations this holiday season in the hopes of spreading some light throughout our community. During this season of giving, Buy A Light on the 75ft Douglas-fir tree that shines bright in our City’s Living Room.
For a donation of $5 you too can light up a life to benefit The National Alliance on Mental Illness, the American Cancer Society, Trillium Family Services, and the American Heart Association. The 32nd Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony Presented by SmartPark

The day after Thanksgiving, more than 15,000 Portlanders gathered in the heart of downtown to celebrate the annual
Tree Lighting of the spectacular 75ft Douglas-fir provided by Stimson Lumber Company. This beloved community tradition spilled out into the streets and featured a sing-a-long with Thomas Lauderdale and members of Pink Martini, the NW Community Gospel Choir, Tracey Harris Woods and the Pacific Youth Choir! Mayor Hales and Santa ceremoniously lit the Tree adorned in over 14,000 multi-colored lights as the crowd looked on in awe. In addition, event attendees were given the opportunity to text in and win one of 33 named bricks in celebration of Pioneer Courthouse Square upcoming 33rd year. There will be another chance to text to win a brick at the upcoming Tuba Christmas Concert Presented by SmartPark.

Parks Replacement Bond Renovations
|
|
In 2014, the Portland community voted to support the Parks Replacement Bond, a measure to issue up to $68 million in general obligation bonds. The money from the bond will pay for the capital costs of repairs and improvements to existing park facilities. Bond outreach identified strong community support for prioritizing restoration of Pioneer Courthouse Square, the much loved City’s “living room”. The 2014 Parks Replacement Bond includes a not-to-exceed allocation of $10 million for all phases and costs associated with the renovation project at the Square.
