CREATIVE INNOVATION CONFERENCE brings leading innovators to Melbourne

The third Creative Innovation Asia Pacific 2012 Global event (Ci2012) is set to bring the who’s who of global thinkers and innovators to Melbourne on 28-30 November 2012. The theme of the conference, “Wicked Problems, Great Opportunities – Leadership and Courage for Volatile Times”, will centre around fresh ideas and new ways of thinking to tackle 'wicked' problems. Ci2012 will feature over 40 Australian and international keynote speakers and highlight opportunities and global trends that affect business and society throughout the Asia Pacific and the rest of the world. Australian michael lynch the name behind one of world's most ambitious Arts centres in Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District is probably the world’s most ambitious arts centre to have ever been envisioned. Australia’s Michael Lynch is the CEO who is making the vision a reality. China isn’t just experiencing an economic boom, it’s revelling in an arts renaissance of sorts. The explosion of visual arts in both Hong Kong and the mainland in recent years, plus the arrival of major fairs including Art Hong Kong and international galleries such as White Cube has shifted the traditional cultural axis from West to East. Has suitcase, will travel - Aussie food and travel writer david prior tells us why he's always on the lookout for the next challenge.  

Contributing Editor at Vogue Living, Australian David Prior, isn’t afraid of taking risks. Not speaking a word of Italian, he left Sydney at the age of 24 to become the first Australian to study at the world’s only food university, Italy’s University of Gastronomic Studies. “Basically I have a suitcase and that’s it in my life. I don’t have a lot to lose,” he says. From there he has travelled every continent and now lives in California, where he writes, curates, and provides creative direction for a number of international publications. New start-up site, mmMule.com, allows people to get anything they want from anywhere in the world by rewarding a traveller with an experience – like drinks in a cool local bar – for delivering it. The idea was borne from the experiences its founders, Avis, Andrew and Alan, all seasoned expats who often found themselves missing treats from back home, “I always wanted things like Barry’s Tea,” says co-founder Avis, an Irish woman living in Sydney, “but I couldn’t get it shipped and I was tired of waiting for friends from Ireland to bring it for me.” Read more.
