If you are reading this bleary-eyed and cranky after a disrupted night of sleep, what was it that kept you awake? New research by Leah Ruppanner shows that women are more likely to be kept awake by family demands (“Pssst, can you hear the baby crying?”), while men have their sleep disrupted by work and money matters.
But there is reason to hope: the study also shows that couples living in societies with greater political and economic equality sleep better – and that applies to men and women.
