UPDATE: Gold Coast Circus and Physical Theatre sector SESH

GOLD COAST: Friday 28th March 2014

As you may know, the City of Gold Coast and ACAPTA recently announced a new $10,000 Creative Development Grant for the Circus and Physical Theatre Sector.

We are now calling for applications from circus or physical theatre artists of the Gold Coast ( or national artists in partnership with artists from the Gold Coast) for a creative development grant of up to $10,000 for a Gold Coast based circus / physical theatre development project.

The upcoming Gold Coast sector SESH will be the perfect opportunity to hear more about this initiative and start some new conversations with potential collaborators and partners.

Places are filling fast so please BOOK NOW to avoid disappointment.

Gasworks Arts Park is thrilled to reveal that their live on-stage circus and physical theatre season Gasworks Circus Showdown will be returning to Gasworks in May 2014, and registrations for participants are now open!

Gasworks Circus Showdown offers a platform for circus professionals from across Australia to showcase their skills to audiences and industry figures alike, while being in the running to win a bundle of career development prizes. This competition based performance series will feature live judging and will consist of two semi final heats culminating in a Grand Final show, with an overall winner being crowned the Gasworks Circus Showdown Champion! THE SOCIAL CIRCUS MAP BY CIRQUE DU MONDE

We recently came across Cirque Du Monde's online Social Circus Map which plots and indexes organizations offering social circus workshops. It is the result of efforts made over the last few years by Cirque du Monde— the social circus program of Cirque du Soleil—to compile a record of all organizations dedicated to this form of intervention as well as the various research projects in progress on this topic.
