Compassionate and Effective Medical Intervention

Historically, emergency medical intervention has led our relief efforts in international disaster events of great magnitude. We are very fortunate in Hope Force International (HFI) to have a cadre of highly qualified healthcare providers in our volunteer ranks. When a crisis occurs, we send out an SOS and have been able to then mount an effective response.

For some of our responders, it might be their first opportunity to practice medicine in what is typically a developing nation – often under extremely difficult circumstances. Although quite stressful, these professionals rise to the occasion and serve with remarkable compassion.

Last year, we met with HFI healthcare volunteers to consider ways in which we might better prepare ourselves for future calamities. The conclusion that we’ve come to is that we need pre-determined opportunities to serve together under less stressful conditions. This will enable us to identify areas of opportunity to strengthen our systems and practices. It will also provide first time international volunteers the ability to acquaint themselves with what it takes to be effective in unfamiliar conditions, and build confidence.

We need you! We are recruiting two medical teams to join us in our long-term recovery/rebuilding efforts in Haiti during 2016. The teams will work alongside our Haiti national coordinators, Rene & Marianne Lako, who have been on the ground in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake, and will serve the village of Sous Savanne and surrounding communities. In doing this, we will accomplish two primary objectives:

  • HFI’s commitment to fill a gap in available healthcare to the impoverished populace -- in keeping with our commitment to those in our Child Sponsorship Program and vulnerable populations.
  • Team members will acquire experience and develop expertise –- greatly enhancing their effectiveness in international medical intervention by serving the poorest of the poor in our hemisphere.

Because this is a non-disaster opportunity, all those interested in putting their love of God and others into compassionate action -- not just HFI Reservists –- are welcome. A few non-medical volunteers will be needed to fill vital support roles in various areas of practical service, but priority will be given to medical professionals who express interest. We would LOVE to have you on the team!

Please prayerfully consider serving on a team in Haiti during 2016 during the following weeks:

➢ April 23-30
➢ November 12-19

We need to hear from you as soon as possible if you are interested! Please contact:  haitiTN@hopeforce.org

Cost per team member is airfare + $100 per night + $250 donation for outreach supplies.

Hope Force International (HFI) initially responded to the 2015 Nepal earthquake by sending emergency medical teams into remote areas -- places where very little (if any) medical care had been provided. Our teams worked in cooperation with Crossroads Community Church of Cincinnati and our indigenous partner, The Apple of God’s Eyes (AOGE) – a ministry dedicated to rescuing and restoring children once trapped in deplorable situations, including sex-trafficking.

In conjunction with a construction team on March 20 - April 2, 2016 to aid in re-building part of AOGE's facilities, we will be bringing a team of medical professionals. The healthcare system in Nepal was woefully inadequate, even before the earthquake last year. The quake exacerbated the situation, leaving many more vulnerable than ever.  Our national partner will pre-identify communities where clinics will be held, prior to our arrival, in an effort to maximize our effectiveness.

A medical team has been assembled to go. However, we still have a need for one of the following: Physician, Physician’s Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner -- as well as one nurse.

If you would be interested in joining this team, please contact us as soon as possible at: info@hopeforce.org
