Kids March Break Workshops 2016

Sunday March 13th to Friday March 18th

Artists, Authors, Gardeners, Musicians, Bears, Beekeepers, Bartenders, Leprechauns, Reptiles, Amphibians, and so much more with a special group fundraising goal in support of SickKids The Hospital for Sick Children*

Sunday: BEAR WORLD STORYTIME

Sunday March 13th, 2016 at 11am

Follow along as our special guest, Corey Marques takes us on the magical journey of 5 bears (Polar Pete, Kara Bear, Amanda Panda, Bella Black, and Gary Grizzly) exploring the forest in search of what it truly means to be "guardians of the planet we share". Every child attending will receive a FREE copy of Corey's book to take home (currently selling on Amazon for $25!),...and with every book given out, an oak tree will be planted!

Bonus Offer: children who bring their teddy bears along from home will be awarded a very special prize (and the bears will look awesome in our group picture!).

Tuesday: MAKING HONEY BEVERAGES

Tuesday March 15th, 2016 at 11am

Step right up to our Honey Bar where Oliver Couto from The Bee Shop will bee making several refreshing and nutritious beverages perfect for Spring & Summer. Come thirtsty, we'll be sampling several of Oliver's delicious concoctions using coco, milk, lemons, apples, & honey!! Don't worry about taking notes, Oliver will bee providing handouts with all the ingredients and instructions needed,..."in that case, make it a double beetender!".

It's never a bad idea to have mum or dad as your designated driver, and Oliver will have a great selection of his amazing honey, candles, & soaps available for sale.

Wednesday: WORMS, ART, & PLANTING WITH EMMA BIGGS

Wednesday March 16th, 2016 at 11am

Co-author of Grow Gardeners, Kid-Tested Gardening with Children: a 4 step approach, Emma Biggs is inviting you to see & touch some gentle friends of the earth, create your very own BIG SEED design on paper, and get a jump-start on Spring by planting your first veggies of the season. So get ready to roll up your sleeves for the worms, make room on the fridge for your artwork, and save a sunny spot at home for your seedlings!

Emma will explain her fun & down-to-earth "4 step approach" and have copies of her beautiful book on hand for sale.

Thursday: ST. PADDY'S DAY JAM!

Thursday March 17th, 2016 at 11am

Come celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the most musically inclined Leprechaun in our greenhouse, Erin Sullivan. You'll need to do your morning stretches, put on your dancing shoes, and throw caution to the wind for this carefree event filled with Irish music, poems, stories, choreography, herb & citrus aromatherapy, and a special craft project.

Bonus Offer: Kids mojitos will be served to the wee ones of all ages,...and children dressed in green will receive a very minty gift!

Friday: RAINFOREST MEET & GREET

Friday March 18th, 2016 at 11am

It wouldn't be March Break without a visit from our good friend Nelson Cardoso and his charming little buddies from Tails & Scales. Get up close and personal with these amazing reptiles & amphibians in the place where they love to stretch out and mingle, our Tropical House!

Registration Fee: $5.00 per child*

Space in the workshops is limited so please register early.
