Auction 19:  FM sound broadcasting spectrum licences

Radio Spectrum Management has announced details for the auction of three FM sound broadcasting spectrum licences following an expression of interest process.

Auction 19 will be managed by Skylarc with the licences sold on the Trade Me website. The auction will start on 4 March 2020 and run for seven days until 11 March 2020.

The term of each licence is valid until 2 April 2031 provided the successful party meets the implementation criteria.

Auction 20:  Short-term management rights in the 3.5 GHz band

Information about key parameters for Auction 20 is now available on the RSM website. This includes details on the reserve price, spectrum acquisition limit and other conditions to be included in the management rights for sale.

New Radio Standards Notice has been published

On Wednesday 29 January 2020, RSM published the Radiocommunications (Radio Standards) Notice 2020.

The new notice includes:

  • General updates to some radio standards
  • The addition of land mobile standard Project 25 Two-Slot Time Division Multiple Access Transceiver Performance Recommendations

Updates to Public Information Brochures PIB39 and PIB59

We have reviewed the Public Information Brochures listed below, particularly with regard to FM sound broadcasting licencing around new applications for synchronous licences, and licences with frequencies off raster.
