Year of Communication

Stay tuned next semester for more events to discuss the art and practice of communication, and the transformative nature of effective communication.  Visit the Center's website to see previous events on this topic.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Transformative Conversations@Brown CRLT Players' performances in November. Thank you also to those who attended, coordinated, and facilitated the post-performance conversations across campus. To help keep the conversations going and in keeping with the Sheridan Center's yearlong theme of Communication, this month's Featured Resource is Start Talking: A Handbook for Engaging Difficult Dialogues in Higher Education.

Featured Resource: Start Talking

Start Talking explores productive ways to engage difficult dialogues in classroom and other academic settings. It presents strategies for engaging controversial topics in the classroom and is intended as a conversation-starter and field manual for professors and teachers who want to strengthen their teaching and engage their students more effectively in conversations about the most important issues of our time.
