Maternity Discrimination

More new mothers are being pushed out of the workplace, with reduction in working hours the biggest source of complaints. More here. Find Acas guidance here.

Dementia at Work

What practical steps can employers take to help staff with dementia? Acas Conciliator Susan Raftery explores the options in her recent blog.

Gender Pay

According to the Office of National Statistics, the current Gender Pay gap is approximately 19%. It will be soon be compulsory for organisations with over 250 employees to measure and report on their Gender Pay gap. We're running sessions throughout Wales to explain what it all means for you, to help ensure compliance and share some best practice. We're visiting Cardiff, Chepstow, Swansea and Wrexham towards the end of the year.

Is mindfulness the key to handling workplace stress?

*NEW* Acas Wales collaboration with Mindfulness expert Gelong Thubten.

The practice of mindfulness is increasing in popularity throughout the UK with classes being offered by the NHS to aid mental wellbeing and in schools to help students focus on their studies - have you ever considered what it can offer for the workplace? Tibetan monk Thubten has attracted substantial media attention as a leading figure in mindfulness - providing companies with practical exercises to lower stress and aid mental clarity.

Having worked with numerous large organisations including Google and HSBC, Thubten is joining Acas Wales to provide an introduction to the practice of mindfulness, with emphasis on practice as well as theory. He will look at the brain science of stress, and the importance of mental focus and resilience, as well as positive relations with others. These factors play a major role in staff wellbeing but also productivity. He will look at how mindfulness addresses these areas and will teach delegates easily accessible methods which can be implemented into your workplace as well as at home.
