National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, Nov 15-23

National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week is observed each year the week before Thanksgiving. Sponsored by the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH) and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness the goal is to emphasize that hunger and homelessness still exist across the nation.

NCH also asks the public to broadcast this message on social media. One of its goals is to have 250 supporters share it on Facebook, Twitter and Tumbler on November 15 at 12:00 noon. They estimate that more than 250,000 people will receive the message. Participating in National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week not only brings greater awareness to your community, but also helps promote the national endeavor to alleviate both.

In light of all this, we include two closer views of hunger and homelessness, how each is still a part of the national landscape, in particular, too, in rural areas, and how we can better understand their history and complexity.

Dear Agua4All supporters

On behalf of hundreds of Eastern Coachella Valley residents, we thank you for donating to the Agua4All crowdfunding campaign. Your contribution will help us provide these residents access to safe drinking water. Without your support, our project would not be successful, and although we did not reach our ultimate goal, we did in fact raise more than half. These funds will allow us to provide infrastructure for two water bottle filling stations (TAPS). And, we are very happy to report that the TAPS were delivered to Pueblo Unido CDC last week for the San Jose Community Learning Center. We will let you know as soon as we break ground to lay pipe.
