The Gift of Giving

When Bill Jurgens was diagnosed with leukemia, his world turned upside down. It wasn't long before expenses started piling up. Fortunately, his friends stepped up to help Jurgens and his family.They raised enough funds to help pay his medical expenses and then some. After his treatment, Bill and his family put the remaining money in the Patient Assistance Fund to help other patients and their families during their stay at the medical center. The Nebraska Medical Center was recently named to the 2014 "100 Great Hospitals in America" list by Becker's Hospital Review. According to Becker's, "These organizations have played home to some of the greatest medical advancements in U.S. health care history and they are also the bastions of their respective communities — serving the roles of academic hubs or local mainstays."
