COVID-19 Updates for Research at Brown
 

University Guidance from the Provost and VP of Research
Brown researchers have been asked to prepare for non-critical, on-campus research being restricted only to essential activities by Wednesday, March 18, at 5pm. Read the full guidance here.

Special Amendment Form: Adding Remote Procedures
Studies that seek to add remote procedures in light of COVID-19 concerns should use the “Amendment Request Form - Remote Procedures” document found here to ensure prioritization and expeditious review.

Special Reportable Events Form: Adding Remote Procedures/Voluntarily Delaying Research Procedures
Studies that enacted remote procedures to protect participants without prior IRB approval or those that would like to voluntarily delay some research procedures should use the special reportable events form.

Closing Expedited Studies
Please remember that with the transition to the revised Common Rule, it is the PI’s responsibility to proactively notify the HRPP when an Expedited study has closed to recruitment and all human subject activities are ended, with identifiers destroyed.

Exempt Modification Request Form
Use this new Exempt Modification request form to revise any procedures, materials, and documents on Exempt research studies.

This NIH Guide Notice addresses general questions associated with proposal submission and award management that may arise in relation to COVID-19.

New Other Support Guidance Available
OSP has developed a 1-page Other Support Guidance chart that will identify where to list different types of support in NIH and NSF proposals.  This chart is based on Council on Government Relations (COGR) interpretation of NIH instructions and NSF’s FAQ on this topic. Read more
