Joining Crofton House: 2020–2021
Do you know a girl who would love to join Crofton House? Applications for the 2020–2021 school year are now open - and referrals from the CHS community are a great way to generate interest!

Conversation with Admissions
CHS families are invited to join the Admissions Team on Tuesday, October 22 at 8:30 am for an informal Q&A at the Nocente Family Fireplace Lounge. Richard Cohee, Director, Admissions, and his team will lead a discussion about the admissions process and financial assistance for new students entering Grade 8 and parents will have the opportunity to ask questions.
We know that many extraordinary students and families come to Crofton House through word-of-mouth from our community members. This session will leave parents better informed about the admissions process and financial assistance. Please RSVP by Friday, October 18 to attend the session.
Senior School Service Event
The CHS Parents’ Auxiliary invites Senior School girls and their parents to be part of the first Senior School service event of the 2019–2020 school year. In partnership with Cooking for a Cause, a local organization that prepares and distributes wholesome food to vulnerable people in our community, Senior School students and parent volunteers will prepare and package nutritious snacks and meals for Vancouver residents living with food insecurity. Food and packages will be assembled over two days. Spaces in this popular program are limited and will fill quickly.
- Granola Bar Making: Wednesday, October 2 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm
- Meal Preparation and Delivery: Thursday, October 17 from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm

Babysitter Directory Annual Sign-Up
Students from Grade 8 to 12 who are interested in babysitting for CHS families can sign-up for the Babysitter Directory. The directory contains the name, contact info, and qualifications of available sitters. PLEASE NOTE: Students need to be registered for the directory annually, inclusion in the directory does not roll over from year to year.
Accessing the Social Directory
The Social Directory is available for families to assist in communicating with your daughter's classmates and their parents. The directory includes participating CHS students along with parental contact information limited to name, grade, email addresses, and phone numbers. Access the Social Directory.
Run for the Cure CHS Team
Run for the Cure takes place Sunday, October 6. There’s still time to join the CHS team in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. When registering for Junior School, search for ‘Crofton House Junior School,' or for Senior School, search ‘Crofton House Senior School.' Register online.
On September 26, this year's Whole Girl, Whole World, speaker, Dr. Lisa Damour - psychologist, author, columnist, teacher and expert on child development - spoke with Junior and Senior girls about the healthy role stress and anxiety plays in helping them stretch beyond their comfort zones while keeping them safe, and how they can recover from periods of stress or anxiety.
Teresa Toten, winner of the Governor General’s Literary Award for Children’s Literature, guided Grade 9 students through a series of exercises to expand their imagination and hone specific writing techniques. Read more.

Students have been busy signing up for clubs and activities this week. Over 30 different options for students, from Math Unbounded, Robotics, and STEM, to the Cheer Club and Band were displayed for signup.

Children from the ECE Centre explore the creative potential of rocks by incorporating these natural materials into play time. Rocks transformed into bubble baths, rock drawings, and paintings and later were placed in the mini woods where the imaginative play can continue. |
