Why I reLove Perth
I’m back in Perth for the first time in twelve months. I moved away just over three years ago, and this is the first time since I left that I have had the urge to find a job here and stay. Before you go getting all excited (because every person in Perth gives a thousand damns that little Tahlia Palmer misses living here, obviously), I won’t be doing anything like that- I have a flight booked for the end of the month, I’ll be getting on that Tiger aircraft (ergh), and hopefully will have a new job to start as soon as I get back. It’s only been four days and already I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to find a different job, and that I have a whole lot of planning and goal setting to do… but for now, I have a few weeks to just relax and enjoy my birth city and all the things that come with it.

Sure, at first sight it’s not hip or action packed, it’s a drama about a politician. But let’s think about this particular politician, John Curtain, possibly the most famous of all Australian Prime Ministers and certainly a household name in Western Australia. Written by Ingle Knight...

There is no light, no lycra, no teacher, no steps to learn, no technique, just free movement. NLNL is a space where you can completely let go, shake out the stresses of the week and lose yourself in the music and the physicality of your body. Hedda Gabler.
By Henrik Ibsen. Translated by Christopher Hampton.
By arrangement with Origin, on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
Directed by Kirilee Lennerts
Hedda: Academics certainly don’t make entertaining traveling companions.
Brack: Not even... the academic you love?
Hedda: Ugh, please don’t use that nauseating word.
Hedda Tesman, daughter of the aristocratic general - General Gabler, returns from her honeymoon with her aspiring, reliable but bland academic husband, George Tesman. No sooner have they arrived when their lives are thrown into disarray with the reappearance of Tesman’s academic rival, Lovborg, and Hedda’s old schoolmate, Thea. Judge Brack also soon arrives at the Tesmans’ house with an agenda all of his own...
Rivalries of all natures begin to occur, and Hedda is determined not to lose - no matter the cost.

much ado about nothing
at roleystone theatre, roleystone
Much Ado About Nothing
Playwright - William Shakespeare
Director – Paul Treasure
July 20, 21, 25, 27, 28
All shows at 8pm.
Joy abounds in Messina, as Don Pedro, the Prince of Arragon celebrates victory over his bastard brother. Amidst the celebrations those around the Prince have a number of tricky situations to navigate. There are two pairs of lovers, Benedick and Beatrice, and Claudio and Hero. Benedick and Beatrice are engaged in a very "merry war"; they both talk a mile a minute and proclaim their scorn for love, marriage, and each other. In contrast, Claudio and Hero are sweet young people who are rendered practically speechless by their love for one another.
Questions abound in this comedic romp: Will the young soldier Claudio marry the Governor’s daughter, Hero? Will Beatrice and Benedick overcome their quick wit and even quicker tongues to realize they are perfect for each other? And what terrible mischief is Don John planning?!
Tickets are $16 adult and $12 for 17 and under.
