Howdy friends!

I'm happy to present the second guest-edited issue of The Modern Desk. This week I hand over the mic to Arne from Hamburg. If you're interested in sharing your favourite office tools with the TMD community, please get in touch (just reply).

I'm also glad to report that the first, big shipment of Offscreen No11 has gone smoothly and I'm now eagerly waiting for them to be received around the globe, nervously checking Instagram to gauge reactions. I'm also tentatively locking in Tuesday next week (June 2nd) for a little launch party here in Melbourne — the first 'real' launch party ever, after 11 issues?!

Finally, I'll leave you with my two favourite reads from last weekend: this article about self-driving trucks and how it will impact America's economy/social structure is truly eye-opening; and a print-out of this excellent list of writing tips is now decorating a wall in my office.

Enjoy this edition and have a great week!

Kai

This Weekʼs Line-Up

A tiny bluetooth keyboard
01

The TextBlade is one of the most promising bluetooth keyboards I've come across. It just doesn't get more portable than this, all while offering a full-sized keyboard layout and making nifty use of multitouch technology.

A place for important reminders
02

This is the one app that keeps me sane whenever I'm about to drown in busyness or procrastination. Due sports a great interface for setting reminders and ensures you take care of them by nagging you in recurring intervals — on your phone and now also on your  WATCH.

Unite your trackpad and keyboard
03

The Magic Wand helps in keeping your Apple keyboard and your trackpad neatly aligned, and your desk a little bit more tidy.

The 21st century calculator
04

The missing link between a calculator and a full blown spreadsheet. Soulver understands natural language calculations and is an invaluable help in everyday number crunching.

A mighty monitor
05

This monitor is ginormous to the degree that it feels a bit silly at first. But once you've given it a good work-out the abundance of screen real estate quickly grows on you. The challenge then becomes effective window management. But hey, I'm not complaining!

Collaborative document editing
06

For exchanging ideas or discussing concepts in written form, we use Hackpad. The browser-based, easy-to-use app keeps you updated on any changes made to your documents, and it syncs to your Dropbox for offline viewing.
