Press Release: NWT TOURISM LAUNCHES RESEARCH WITH RESIDENTS TO INFORM FUTURE PLANS
For Immediate release - October 1, 2020 With unprecedented challenges facing NWT residents and the tourism industry, NWT Tourism has commenced important research that will inform destination marketing plans and help to optimize activities, timing and messaging that will support the rebuild and recovery of the NWT’s tourism industry, when the time is right. The research is being undertaken by Leger, a leading Canadian research and analytics firm, who will be gathering feedback from residents about tourism through telephone interviews and an online survey. The research will consist of three waves of outreach to residents. We are excited to launch the first wave which will take place for several weeks beginning October 1st. The research will help enhance understanding of NWT residents’ attitudes and perceptions towards tourism as they come through the experience of the Government of the Northwest Territories’ Emerging Wisely plan. In addition, the research will gauge how receptive residents are to receiving visitors from different areas. Information and insights gathered will be used to support the industry and guide NWT Tourism’s marketing through the phases of response, recovery and return to resilience for the industry. We encourage NWT residents to participate in the research and share your feedback on tourism in the North. Please take the time to participate in the telephone survey if you are called. If we are not able to reach you by phone, an online version of the survey will be available for this first wave from October 12th to October 25th at: https://legerweb.com/NWTresidents2020 If you complete the survey by telephone for this first wave of research, please do not also fill in the online survey for this same wave. -30-
