iStart Australia

Hi there,

It’s a hard road to travel, this digital identity lark.

Five years on from announcing its intention to build an all-in-one digital ID service for Australia, the Federal Government is still plugging away at the initiative. And to be fair, there are now more than 1.7 million digital identities created through myGovID.

eftpos jumped in on the act earlier this year with its trial with Australia Post of its connectID offering. Now the Queensland Government is also piloting the eftpos solution which acts as a broker between identity providers such as Australia Post, government departments and merchants, who need to verify who they are dealing with.

It’s yet another weapon in the arsenal and could ultimately provide some compelling use cases (particularly with eftpos’ acquisition of payments app Beem It) and a move away from clumsy digital commerce experiences.

Fingers crossed it doesn’t take another five years.

In other news this week:

  • Microsoft's productivity – or is that staff surveillance – push
  • Low code: If the LCAP fits, it'll probably cost a pretty penny
  • The open banking opportunity
  • Navigating the innovation cycle – the CSIRO guide
  • How do you really feel about a woebot for a therapist?

And in today's client insight, we take a look at how a strong partnership with its integration provider has been instrumental in Fulton Hogan streamlining and optimising its system integration efforts.

Enjoy the read,
