Rain, fog and frost, it's all part of the game at Ngā Puna Wai.

The cold winter weather hasn't stopped the action at this versatile venue, with a busy timetable of events and activities scheduled over the colder months.

From ultimate frisbee, hockey trials and the return of rugby league, winter sports enthusiasts are making the most of this fabulous new facility.

We've now completed the handover from construction to a fully operational site at Ngā Puna Wai, marking the end of a three year journey from design to construction. Thank you to everyone who has come on the journey with us.

Now with spring on the horizon, what are you waiting for - come on down and have a go! We'd love to see you here.

This winter, under the lights of Ngā Puna Wai, ultimate (frisbee) discs can be seen flying as Canterbury Ultimate grows participation and activates this space in a unique way.

Ngā Puna Wai was at the centre of a significant sporting milestone last month, with the return of Canterbury Rugby League to a first class home turf, complete with lights, grandstand crowd and a nail-biting second half. Read more here.

The opening of the rugby league facilities completes the handover from construction to a fully operational site. 

This milestone marks a journey of three years for the Project Team and Stakeholders from taking the site master plan through the various design stages then onto construction to deliver the fantastic facilities we have today. Ka pai everyone!

We welcome enquiries from corporate groups, event organisers and community organisations interested in booking Ngā Puna Wai which offers a versatile space that caters to a wide range of experiences.

In June, Kathmandu hosted families of their Christchurch staff for a day of action-packed activities. Over 60 kids had a go at hockey, athletics and a range of sports and play activities through a programme led by Kathmandu and run by Kelly Sports.

Ngā Puna Wai is proving itself a truly versatile sports venue and our city's premier outdoor sports facility, combining community playing fields and recreation opportunities with international standard sports facilities.
