The World Liquors’ giant globe has been a staple of St. Pete’s Central Avenue since 1961. When World Liquors closed for redevelopment in 2018, many longtime residents had concerns what would become of the iconic symbol of St. Pete.
Mark Ferguson purchased the sign at an online auction, which benefited two local charities, the St. Pete Kiwanis Club and Boley Centers.
Now, after more than a year and a half the fully restored sign has a new home, perfectly placed at the corner of Ferg's Sports Bar on Central Avenue, just blocks away from its original location.
The history of this iconic sign goes back to its very first name, World Furniture and in 1961 it was purchased by the Misiewicz family and changed to World Liquors.
Please join us for this historic “Ferg’s Lights Up The
World” block party and watch as we flip our iconic sign back to the ON position so it may light up and spin for years to come. By the way, be sure to wear your sunglasses it's going to be bright!
