Exeter Law School Cornwall Newsletter - October Part 2 No Images? Click here Welcome to the third edition of the Exeter Law School Cornwall Newsletter. We hope that you are settling in well and that you have been enjoying your first few weeks of term. LAW SCHOOL NEWSThank you to all those who took part in the B Law Hack over the past few days. We were blown away by the standard of your presentations of your cases for new environmental law and regulations for businesses on the final day. Having taught law for many years between us, we all agreed that this level of presentation skill two and ½ weeks in is extraordinary. It speaks to your calibre as undergraduates and we all feel that you are great ambassadors for the programmes here already. Out of an extremely strong field, ‘Firm 8’ were the winners of the first B Law Hack Best Case Prize, with Firms 3 & 6 close runners up. Please click on the following link to complete a survey on your experience at the B Law Hack. You've got two great opportunities to put all the networking skills you learned in the workshops into operation this week and to learn from Penryn campus alumni, who are already achieving great things in the world, with the careers fair on Weds 16th October and the Alumni event on the 18th October, see below for further details. Make sure you go to both. Elaine and Lee from the Careers Zone will be at Law Lab on Monday to help with sign-ups and answer any questions about the events. Finally remember that the deadline is fast approaching to apply to volunteer at the Dracaena Centre in their legal advice clinic, more details of the work and how to apply below. Nikita who runs the Access to Justice section of the Flamank Law Society will be at Law Lab on Monday to tell you more about what volunteering at the Dracaena Centre is like. We are working on making Law Lab work for you and welcome, as always, your constructive feedback, please do complete the questionnaire on the Hack and Law linked to this newsletter. The Clinic itself works in partnership with the Legal Advice Centre in London. The clinic operates at Truro Crown Court on Mondays and at the Dracaena Centre on Thursdays and Fridays. The main duty of the Caseworker role is to endeavour to reassure clients and to facilitate the provision of relevant legal advice. Volunteers are tasked with gathering client information in a confidential and professional manner.
