We’ve had open banking – well, at least the opening of open banking discussions – now it’s time for 'open enerco', and 'open telco' to follow as individuals' rights over what and how their personal data is used receive greater attention from regulators and businesses.

While any changes to the way companies use and protect data internally are unlikely, the ACCC says it will help encourage market competition, ease customer portability and lead to better prices and products for everyone.

With consultation now underway about models to protect the 'Consumer Data Right', we take a look at what it’s all about.
