Always use MCW’s legal name “The Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc.” when completing grant applications and contract paperwork. Checking for this prior to submission to GCO will prevent your application from being returned for revisions.
Grant applications are due to GCO 5 business days prior to the deadline. Keep this in mind when working around holidays. For example, for a grant
application due January 4, 2021, the eBridge funding proposal will be due to GCO on December 23, 2020.
Clinical Research Tip of the Month:
Case Reports
MCW maintains a policy on Case Reports Using Protected Health Information
Case series of 4 or more patients requires review by the IRB. Case series of 3 or less does not require IRB review, however, authorization must be obtained from the patients. If this is not possible, all PHI must be removed.
The Vitality Award is designed to support faculty members who wish to pursue a significant career objective in a formalized manner and in a concentrated period of time. The Award provides financial support for faculty-defined projects anticipated to benefit both the faculty member and MCW.
All faculty with six or more years of full time or full professional effort service to MCW at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher are eligible to apply for the Awards.
The applicant or the principal investigator must be a member in good standing of the Central Surgical Association. The applicant will need to explain how the CSA member is directly involved in the research. Special consideration will be given to member applicants who are junior faculty at the Assistant Professor level who have not yet obtained federal funding (K, R series NIH or equivalent DoD funding) to support early career development and to serve as seed money to obtain these grants in the future. All research proposals must have IRB approval (or documentation of exemption) at the time of submission.
Inter-institutional collaboration among CTSI academic/research partner institutions is required. This requirement includes that the core team is made up of CoPIs from at least two different CTSI partner institutions: Children’s Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital, Marquette University, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee School of Engineering, UW-Milwaukee, Versiti, and Zablocki VA Medical Center.
