Papanui-Innes community update - 24 November 2020

Christchurch City Council

Greetings from your Community Board

Message from the Chair

Kia ora koutou,
Summer is around the corner and its a good time to start thinking about our outdoor water use, especially when we're out in the garden. The Council has just launched its water conservation campaign, so check out the video below. Remember to take a look at the information on our Long Term Plan portal if you haven’t had yet had a chance to do so. Last week, we launched our What’s the right game plan? campaign, which is the beginning of a conversation with our residents about the Long Term Plan 2021–31 and outlines some of the challenges and opportunities we’re facing as we develop our 10-year budget. Public consultation on the draft Long Term Plan will begin in March next year and we want our community to help us decide what’s important. Keep being  kind and look after one another. Kia kaha.

Chair of the Community Board

Board Chair, Emma Norrish

Highlights from our latest meeting

Our Community Board met on Friday 20 November. Some highlights of our meeting including hearing from local youth who recently received community board funding for their projects as part of our Public Forum. We also received our Community Board Area Report for October, which gives us an overview of all the great things happening in our area. Our Board has approved $15,000 from our Discretionary Response Fund to bet set aside towards the cost of activation projects for 10 Shirley Road. We're keen to workshop ideas with the local community for further activation of this site, which will help us prepare our submission to the Council's Long Term Plan 2021-31. You can check out the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes  Community Board Facebook page for more information, read the minutes to see what else we discussed and find out the dates, times and details of upcoming Community Board and Council meetings here.
