New book: The World of Visual Facilitation

I always get a bit excited when we add new products to the Graphic Gear store, but I'm more excited than usual right now because one of the new products that we've just added is a book that I wrote!

*OK, when I say I wrote it, I mean I co-wrote it—along with about 50 other talented graphic recorders, facilitators, and all-round pioneers of the visualisation field. 

The book is called The World of Visual Facilitation: Unlock your power to connect people & ideas. It's actually an enormous 655-page monster of a thing, completely packed full of wisdom from over 50 authors. And I was absolutely honoured to be invited to contribute three chapters.

Graphic Gear is the only place that you can buy this book in Australia. Obviously I'm biased, but I genuinely believe this is a worthy contribution to the field.

With contributions from pioneers such as Brandy Agerback, Mike Rohde, Jessamy Gee, and others, as well as a few fascinating international case studies of collaboration in Asian countries, the book really does contain something for everyone.

And if you ask nicely, I may even sign your copy before we put it in the post!

VizConf pre-conference workshops

This year we're once again sponsoring VizConf 2019, the conference for Australia's visual thinkers and doers. It's running in Melbourne on October 19, and I'm teaching a couple of pre-conference workshops in the days leading up to the main event:

Giving back

Did you know that every time you make a purchase from Graphic Gear, we donate one nourishing meal to a rescued girl in India, through Save the Children?

It's all part of our B1G1 giving program, which links business activity to acts of giving. There are other projects that we donate to as well, in other parts of the world (and in Australia), depending on certain metrics that we track and measure as a business.

• Here's another example: every time one of our customers leaves us a positive review on Google or Facebook, we provide one day of computer education to a child in need in the Northern Territory.
• And another one: every time you visit the Graphic Gear website, we provide a day of access to a safe and hygienic toilet to a school student in Malawi.
