Information & Communications Officer - Creative Quarter Company
£20k-25k Full time, Nottingham. The role of Information and Communications Officer is being created is to manage the marketing, press activity, online presence and social media for the Creative Quarter. To oversee the external communications and press activity of the Creative Quarter company and often its partners where relevant.  To disseminate a coherent message on successes, future plans and current projects through various channels (press releases, online content, social media, public events etc) For a full application pack and further information please email dan@creativequarter.com. Artist Commission in Northampton - Willis Newson
Willis Newson is seeking to appoint an artist / designer to work closely with P+HS architects to develop, design and deliver a coherent visual framework for a new Secure Adolescent Mental Health and Learning Disability Service Unit in Northampton. The role will include the design of way-finding graphics, wall graphics and devices for the display of service user art. The artist/designer is expected to run consultation sessions with staff and service users in order to both understand and reflect the needs of users in the ensuing design work. The art commission will commence in October 2014 to be complete by March 2016, and will be managed by arts and health consultants Willis Newson. The design fee for this role is £10,000. Commissioned artist - Westbury Arts Centre
£10k-15k pro rata Part time. Westbury Art Centre would like to commission 2 Artist’s from different disciplines to create both a performance piece and a stand-alone installation and final exhibition from hundreds of individual textile pieces in a project that will involve the local and wider community to commemorate the centenary anniversary of WWI. This project forms part of a city wide initiative with MK Arts and Heritage Alliance and is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The first artist would have a background in both dance and performance and would choreograph a piece of work that would involve participants in creating a spectacular piece of theatre /dance. Artist Commission, Transported: Creative people and Places Project
Transported is working in partnership with members of Long Sutton and District Civic Society to improve the Long Sutton Common Pit situated at the heart of Long Sutton, and we are seeking to commission a professional artist to create a singular or set of interventions that will enhance the visitor experience of the Common Pit. The feature(s) must enhance the visitor experience of new and existing visitors enabling them to appreciate the site as well as making the site more visible from the main road. In addition we would like the selected artist to run a series of workshops within the local community of Long Sutton prior to the installation of the final design. Events Volunteers and Production Interns - Renaissance One
Renaissance One is looking to recruit a team of production interns and some volunteers to assist us in producing spoken word and literature projects that will be taking place in the Midlands and London over the summer and autumn. As part of a friendly team of producers, writers and creatives, you’ll work with us to organise and produce literature events and create buzz around them and you’ll be able to gain insights into aspects of event production and the managing of arts projects.  Depending on when you join the team, events will be taking place in Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, London and other regions and featuring Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze, Patience Agbabi, Mark Gwynne Jones, John Agard and other talented writers. Programme Support Worker - Creative Paths
Creative Paths is a social enterprise that provides creative activities and community learning for health and well being. We are looking for an energetic, creative person with great communitcation skills to work as a part time programme support worker on our learning and workshop programme. (18 hours a week Tues, Wed and Thursday contract until March 31st 2015). The role includes delivering creative workshops and working as an additional learning support worker on our community learning programme. Nottingham Playhouse, one of the UKs leading producing theatre, is looking to appoint a Wardrobe Assistant/Dresser to join our busy Wardrobe department. BBC Performing Arts Fund Fellowship - Leicester
The Foundation for Community Dance (FCD) with support from Curve Theatre, Leicester are seeking proposal’s from emerging dance practitioners specialising in South Asian dance styles. Proposals are sought in relation to an application to the BBC Performing Arts Fund (PAF) – Fellowship programme. Assistant Operations Manager - Curve Theatre
Curve, one of Britain’s leading producing theatres located in the heart of Leicester’s Cultural Quarter has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Operations Manager to join our Duty Management team within the Operations Department. The role will be primarily responsible for Duty Managing performances and events (evening and weekend working will be required), leading, training and motivating the ushers, volunteer customer hosts and the Operational Co-ordinator, maintaining the Operations Department rota, providing exceptional customer service and a professional and friendly first point of contact for both internal and external customers. Music Leader - County Youth Arts
Music Leader for Pride Performance Company. Pride is a dance focused performance company. The company currently consist of 20 plus young disabled creative 13 to 24 years of age. They meet on Saturday afternoons to create and rehearse original music for dance and Friday evenings to create and rehearse original choreography. Pride are looking for an experienced, upbeat and enthusiastic music practitioner to lead projects to create live music for dance with disabled young people on Saturday afternoons from September 2014 to March 2015. Early Years Class Leader - Music Go Round Ltd
Music Go Round is a dynamic provider of lively and inspiring music, movement and singing classes to early years settings; currently operating in Birmingham, Leicester, Northampton, Milton Keynes and Bristol. We are currently looking for an energetic and fun loving class leader to join our growing team. You will have lots of energy, a passion for music with a great singing voice, and love to work with young children. You don’t need to have done this role before: full training, props and equipment, lesson plans, and regular on-going support are all provided. Editorial Artist - IdeasTap
We're looking for a talented artist, designer, illustrator or photographer to follow in the footsteps of the brilliant Pete Murgatroyd as IdeasTap's new editorial artist. We want somebody to contribute a striking editorial image every week for two months. Images could be inspired by current affairs, the arts, or any other issues that matter to our members. The selected artist will be paid £100 per image (one per week for two calendar months). You could submit drawings, photographs, cartoons, digital images – any visual medium that enables you to create something thought-provoking, political or inspiring. The selected artist will be required to submit a short paragraph to accompany and contextualise their image each week. Images will be showcased on IdeasTap's homepage carousel and in IdeasMag. Participation and Events Intern - The Mighty Creatives
The role will play a key part in our support for young people to reach their potential as leaders in the arts and cultural sector. You will work closely with a range of key staff throughout TMC to deliver this. Deadline Extended - Commission Opportunity, Devonshire Square - Loughborough

The Loughborough Business Improvement District (BID) is inviting applications from artists, designers or teams of creative practitioners to design a linear work to be installed above the shop frontages in Devonshire Square, Loughborough.
 This commission offers the opportunity to work, potentially for the first time, on a large scale in the public domain and is particularly suited to practitioners such as printmakers, illustrators, designers or makers with a strong track record.
 The site provides a prominent platform for the selected artist and the potential to create associated licensed products for sale locally will be considered.
 The site is 55 meters long by 2.25 meters high, apart from one area which is approximately 4 meters high.
 The artist will produce a design that will be passed on to contractors who will transfer the design digitally onto panels and install the work. There is a separate budget for this. Business Development Manager - Phoenix
Phoenix is looking for a Business Development Manager to join the management team and build upon our fundraising success over the last 3 years. The Business Development Manager is responsible for growing and developing grant, sponsorship and philanthropic income that supports our creative programme and develops the organisation. We are looking for a strategic thinker and achiever who can influence our development in the longer term whilst leading significant funding applications, often with partners and also supporting colleagues in applying for smaller grants. The immediate focus of the role is to lead several applications to foundations or trusts - typically targeting awards valued £150K or more over 2-3 years. A further and linked priority is to achieve £52K of matched funding for an Arts Council Catalyst award by June 2015. The closing date for applications is 8th August 2014. East Leicestershire LEADER bid
Leicestershire Rural Partnership is currently working with local partners to support a bid for EU Rural Development funds which could attract up to £2m investment for East Leicestershire.  With priorities that include: rural tourism; farm diversification; small and micro enterprises; and culture and heritage, we feel it is a real opportunity to help support, promote and grow the creative sector in the area. LEADER is a French acronym which translates to 'Liaison among actors in rural economic development' and is a community / business led approach to rural development. As such it is important that we engage businesses in the development of the East Leicestershire bid, and we would very much welcome your support. IdeasTap Creative networking session: Making films
17 July: As part of the 'Summer of Somewhereto_ festival', this free networking session will feature a talk and Q&A all about the film industry and how to break into a career in film, delivered by producer Anna Griffin. Discussion topics will include different career paths available, first steps to making a film, and how to make a living from films. Event takes place from 5.30-7pm on 17 July at Wot Space, Leicester. Phoenix Interact Labs
Phoenix Interact Labs is a space for people to be creative with digital technology. It includes everything from DIY hardware kits to a 3D printer, providing a supportive environment for learning, experimentation, collaboration and making new things. ​http://interactlabs.co.uk/
 

  • Getting Started with ArduinoSat Aug 2nd, 1 - 5pm: Arduino is a microcontroller development board – a cheap little computer you can programme to read sensors and control things like motors and lights. It’s a fantastic tool for artists, designers and hobbyists. This workshop will get you up and running with this hugely adaptable technology, showing you how to program the device and make simple electronic circuits. The course fee includes a complete Arduino kit – yours to keep after the workshop. Please bring a laptop to program on. A limited number of computers can be provided.   • Open Labs - Sat Aug 19th Drop in between 1 - 5pm, Free. Come along and see the sort of work currently taking place at Phoenix Interact Labs. We’ll be demonstrating the 3D printer, the watercolorbot, the Raspberry Pi-controlled robot arm and other recent projects. Feel free to bring your own projects to share. 
  • Bursary Scheme Phoenix is announcing a programme of support to help artists based in Leicester and Leicestershire be creative with digital technology. If you’re an artist, designer or technologist interested in experimenting with technology in your practice, Phoenix is offering bursaries of up to £500, workspace and individual programmes of support to help you create innovative new work. Deadline: 31st July. 

 

Film-maker, Laddermaking Project - Heritage Crafts Association
The Heritage Crafts Association is organizing a wooden Laddermaking training course taught by the last remaining laddermaker in September 2014. Prior to the course, the laddermaker will show two ‘apprentices’ how to make ladders, and this process will be videoed. The video is to reinforce the training received by those who attend the course, and to disseminate the knowledge to those who could not attend. Zero Budget Film Workshop
Cheap Thrills! Zero Budget Film Festival is an independent FREE collaborative community film festival that has been running in Sheffield since 2011 and is happening in Sheffield in September and Loughborough in October 2014. Last year the festival entertained over 300 people with over 50 films, sent in by people from Sheffield, Loughborough, the rest of the UK, Egypt, USA, Spain and Russia. The idea is simple - you make a film, send it in, and the volunteer team of arts professionals make a one-night festival out of as many they can. You bring friends and family, it’s free to enter a film and free to come to the festival.  It’s a great night out – all it costs is your time and creativity. If you want to make a film then it must be: 1. Short (under 8 minutes) 2. Entertaining 3. Family friendly 4. CHEAP – it should cost you nothing, or, as little as possible. The festival is open to amateur and pro filmmakers. We are happy to give technical assistance and will be running a free film making workshops in Loughborough on Saturday 2nd August  & Sunday 3rd August. See the website to find out more.

Film Theory Courses at Phoenix

  • World War I on Screen Saturday 2 August 2014, 10am - 4pm, £26 / £22 conc. A study day commemorating the one-hundredth anniversary of World War 1, looking at the many facets of humanity and human life and loss depicted on the cinema screen. This one day course features film from the time and soon after, as well as more recent attempts to analyse and understand the Great War.
  • Distributing your Film Saturday 6 September, 10.30am - 4pm. £35 / £30 conc. During the course, participants will learn how to identify target audiences and markets, and how to reach them through maximising a films sales potential; how to find a distributor, demystify contracts, enter negotiations and secure the deal; make deliverables cheaply and effectively ,and ensure delivery is met; and maximise the chances of getting an international release.

Handmade in Leicestershire Summer Craft Fair
Saturday 19 July, 11 – 5. HandMade in Leicestershire is a prestigious contemporary art, craft and design fair that this year returns to the beautiful setting of Belgrave Hall and Gardens.  A wide range of arts and crafts will be on sale in the newly refurbished rooms of the Hall and Gardens. Made in Leicestershire Select - Exhibition Opening at Ferrers Gallery
Creative Leicestershire, in partnership with Ferrers Gallery would like to invite you to the launch party of Made in Leicestershire Select 2014 on Friday 18 July at 1pm. Made in Leicestershire Select is a platform for the very best artist - makers in Leicestershire and Rutland to showcase their work. Artists included in the exhibition and printed directory - to be published in autumn 2014 - have been selected by an independent panel of experts in the arts/crafts sector for their original high quality and uniquely covetable work. Call for Submissions: East Midlands Graduate Project: EM14, Surface Gallery
Surface Gallery is now accepting submissions for its sixth East Midlands Graduate Project, EM14; Nottingham’s only graduate residency. This opportunity supports Fine Art graduates from across the region by offering a free residency and exhibition in an independent, contemporary art space to kick-start the transition from university into the professional art world. The East Midlands Graduate Project will be open to practitioners of all disciplines. Applications are welcome from all recent Fine Art graduates from East Midlands universities, but also graduates now resident in the region. EXPOSURE Open Call, FORMAT International Photography Festival
FORMAT International Photography Festival is one of the UK's leading biennials in contemporary photography. EXPOSURE is the festival's international open call for submissions to the next festival, following the theme of EVIDENCE. We are looking for submissions from across the medium of photography and beyond for the next edition of FORMAT International Photography Festival, taking place from 13th March – 12th April 2015, in Derby, UK. Griffin Art Prize 2014 for Emerging UK artists
The Griffin Art Prize 2014 UK is an exciting opportunity for emerging artists in painting and drawing. Supported by the world’s leading fine art brands, Winsor & Newton, Liquitex and Conté à Paris, the prize offers one outstanding candidate a six month residency in the Studio Building, 21, Evesham street, London W11 4AJ. CDS Student Exhibition Opportunity
CDS Gallery and Studio are looking for a selection of talented student designer makers who are interested in an opportunity to sell their work within a gallery space amongst established and high profile UK makers. The Ten2 Open Summer Exhibition
The Ten2Gallery is again offering the exciting opportunity to artists in the area to submit up to 3 pieces of their work for consideration to be included in the open “Summer Exhibition” to be held at the Ten2Gallery during August and September 2014. The Temp Exhibition - Call for Artwork
The Temp Exhibition is a one night only exhibition to be hosted at The Font Pub in Leicester during the Autumn term. PRS for Music/ESO Composing Competition
PRS for Music and the English Schools’ Orchestra are proud to announce the launch of a nationwide competition to find the brightest young creative musical talent of the 21st century. We invite young composers between the ages of 14 and 25 to submit an original composition of their own creation to commemorate the Centenary year of PRS for Music and the 20th Anniversary of the English Schools’ Orchestra. The winning composition will be performed in London, in November in front of an invited audience, by a professional chamber orchestra consisting of former members of the English Schools’ Orchestra. National Student Drama Festival 2015
The National Student Drama Festival empowers and inspires young talent and ambition. NSDF15 will take place in Scarborough next spring. It will feature performances, workshops, discussions, masterclasses and entertainment in venues across Scarborough, including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, University of Hull Scarborough Campus and the Scarborough Spa. It will run from Saturday 28 March 2015 to Friday 3 April 2015 inclusive. People Dancing Event - Save the Date
The international event, essential for anyone working in dance, the Foundation for Community Dance's inaugural international community dance event, People Dancing will take place in Cardiff, Wales between 13-15 November 2014 in and around the Wales Millennium Centre. The Bank of TMC
The Bank of TMC is an initiative that provides bespoke business start-up support to creative young people aged 16 to 25 years old. The Bank of TMC offers grants of up to £5,000 that can be used for capital and/or revenue development costs of launching or growing a business (i.e. marketing, equipment or consultancy and professional support). To apply for a grant, you will firstly need to register your interest by completing an expression of interest form which you can find on this page. Funding for Creative Young People
IdeasTap, a non-for-profit initiative supports young creative people between 16 and 30 years of age, has announced that its Ideas Fund Innovators is open to applications. During this funding round the Ideas Fund Innovators aims to offer 20 projects £500 each (10 for those aged 16 - 22 and 10 for those aged 23 - 30) to help get them off the ground. In the past, Ideas Tap have funded everything from dance and film projects to music videos and photography collectives. Applications from any creative field will be considered. Ideas Tap are looking for projects that are inspiring, original, innovative and that Ideas Tap think you can deliver. This brief closes on the 1st September 2014 at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members aged 16 to 30 on the closing date. Funding Available To Help Volunteering
The Alec Dickson Trust provides grants of up to £500 to help young people of up to 30 or small groups of young people run a volunteering project in their local area. The fund seeks to support projects that enhance the lives of others, particularly those most marginalised by society such as: the homeless, those with drug dependency problems, people with disabilities. Innovation Fund Bursary Programme 2014
Bursaries are available of up to £20,000 per year over 2 years. The purpose of the bursaries is to support small scale pilots to develop projects with new and innovative ideas, to deliver improved and sustainable health and social care outcomes for individuals, linked to prevention approaches. All the Application documentation, including full details of who can apply and for what sort of projects, are now available on the Source Leicestershire website. The deadline for applications is 1st September 2014, 17:00. To help organisations to develop their applications, we will be holding events around the County throughout the application phase. Near Neighbours Grants
The Department for Communities & Local Government has announced that it is planning to re-open its Near Neighbours small grants programme in June 2014. Launched in 2011 in partnership with the Church Urban Fund, Near Neighbours provides small grants of up to £5,000 to grassroots groups and multi-faith communities. Funding will be available to communities with significant religious diversity to help them run projects which will bring about lasting benefits to their neighbourhoods. Charities, religious organisations, Community Interest Companies, social enterprises and groups of individuals focusing on community benefit will be eligible to apply. For more information on the scheme and the areas covered please click here

£2k UK Growth Vouchers & Leicester 50% Grants for B2B Businesses

Leicestershire County Council SHIRE Community Solutions Grant Fund
The Council is committed to supporting voluntary and community sector organisations to work alongside us to design and develop innovative solutions, to enable the delivery of key services for our communities and has committed £260,000 (in 2014-15) for the SHIRE Community Solutions Grant Fund. The key focus of the fund will be to prioritise projects which address vulnerability, disadvantage and access to essential services. The maximum amount which can be applied for is £10,000 and grants will only be available to projects which benefit residents of Leicestershire County. Voluntary Action Leicestershire - application support
VAL offers free, confidential and impartial advice to voluntary and community groups completing funding applications. We are able to review draft funding applications, offer advice on structuring your funding bid and advise and facilitate a consortium approach. Music Grants for Older People
The registered charity, Concertina which makes grants to charitable bodies which provide musical entertainment and related activities for the elderly has announced that the next deadline for applications is the 31st October 2014. The charity is particular keen to support smaller organisations which might otherwise find it difficult to gain funding. Since its inception in 2004, Concertina has made grants to a wide range of charitable organisations nationwide in England and Wales. These include funds to many care homes for the elderly to provide musical entertainment for their residents. Find out more here.

New £30 Million Package to Help Improve the Prospects of Young People
The Government has announced that organisations, including those from the voluntary sector can bid for funding through a new £30 million scheme to help improve the prospects of up to 20,000 vulnerable young people. The funding will help disadvantaged young people improve their prospects and prevent them from falling into a situation where they are not in education, employment or training (NEET). This investment is made up of 2 new programmes specifically targeting 14 to 24-year-olds. Find out more here.
