Welcome to our winter newsletter

It’s been another busy couple of months for the team here. We’ve been working furiously throughout freshers’ month supporting a number of universities introducing Quorn on their menus. We’ve also hosted another fantastic cookery school, which ran over two days at Becketts Farm in the Midlands.

A two-day cookery extravaganza
Quorn cooking extravaganza

On Wednesday 31 October and Thursday 1 November cooks from across the Midlands joined us for a session packed full of cookery demonstrations. Due to popular demand, we ran two cookery schools at The Orange Kitchen Cookery School at Becketts Farm, Birmingham.

Once again, we were amazed at some of the outstanding dishes that were created. It’s refreshing to know that people are experimenting with Quorn and coming up with great new ways to entice pupils to try new flavours.

During the day, the delegates took part in discussions covering health, meat reduction, diet, obesity as well as sustainability and green issues.

We’re going to continue our cookery schools next year, so watch this space to ensure you don’t miss us coming to a venue near you.

Quorn educate for the future

Back in September we hosted a fantastic demo to the entire school at Bilsdale and Carlton Schools and then worked closely with 75 pupils to let them put their cooking skills to the test too.

Lis Marsden, head teacher at Bilsdale Midcable Chop Gate CG (VC) & Carlton and Faceby CE (VA) Primary Schools commented on the activity: “Thank you so much for the Quorn day. It was amazing, both the children and the staff loved it. You were absolutely fantastic and it was truly excellent. Please come back again soon.”

Growing the team to support you

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve got two new additions to our fantastic team of home economists. Both Sumi Glass and Lizzie Harrison have a wealth of experience and are keen to make their mark and get you excited and engaged with Quorn.

Sumi will be covering the South West region and brings over 20 years of experience with her having worked for Iceland and RHM.

Movember

I’m sure some of you will be pleased that the month of ‘Movember’ (as it’s now known) is over and none more so than me! It’s been a challenge that some of us have taken to the extreme, but all in a good cause. At Quorn, the team have raised over £2,000 “to change the face of men’s health”. I’d like to thank all of those who have spurred me on and donated money to the team and myself…

Roll on the 1st December – razors to the ready!
