The genesis of what is now Hope Force International (HFI) occurred while leading a team into Mexico City in the immediate aftermath of a powerful 8.0 earthquake that ravaged the nation of Mexico, September 19, 1985.

This was my first exposure to the trauma associated with a severe disaster event. The assault upon our senses was overwhelming; the sights, smells and sounds of tragedy at this magnitude leave an indelible imprint on the very soul of a person. It was here that God solidified within me His heart for the people of Mexico, and where the long journey to what is Hope Force International began.

Now, thirty years later, we have the opportunity to empower followers of Jesus in Mexico to respond to the plight of disaster survivors – not only in Mexico, but around the world. We have a core group of local Reservists and leaders working with us to establish HFI in Mexico. A cornerstone of our strategy is the HFI Disaster Responder Training event which we will be conducting for up to 50 participates, August 10-12.
