Hey friends!

It's photo retouching week here at Offscreen, which means I'm spending my days in Lightroom going through hundreds of photos for the upcoming issue.

Last week I've opened up pre-sales for subscriptions starting with the new issue (13). And over the weekend I shared some thoughts on the interplay of conscience, idealism and business. If you have any feedback on that, tweet it at me or reply here.

Over lunch today I watched this inspiring TED talk on finding an agreement in difficult situations and read this essential article on the real threat of terrorism.

See you next week!

Kai

This Weekʼs Line-Up

A daily typography calendar
01

I really, really want one of those: the Typodarium 2016 is a daily tear-off calendar with a new typeface every day. One site describes it like so: "The curious lifting of the day's page (to reveal information on the font of the day on the back) has become something of a typographical morning greeting, with real connoisseurs having several treasure chests of type specimens tucked away in their desk drawers." There are a few sites out there selling it.

A new tab, a new view at the world
02

With Earth View you can experience a beautiful image from Google Earth every time you open a new tab in Chrome.

A variety of lenses for your iPhone
03

I only recently discovered Olloclip, a company that makes a huge range of clip-on iPhone lenses (and some for Samsung phones too). I've always wanted to try an external lense and an upcoming holiday in February might finally be the reason for me to get the 4-in-1 lens pack.

A web-based script reading software
04

Teleprompters are often used for lengthy speeches, but they can also come in handy for recording product videos (think Kickstarter) or just to practice a presentation. This free tool looks like a fantastic and feature-rich alternative to the many paid apps out there. (Paid premium features are available too.)

A cheap, lightweight wooden laptop stand
05

Sore neck? Stood may help. Raise your laptop screen with this lightweight and portable wooden stand. It collapses easily to fit in any backpack. And at EUR 20 it'll probably suit your wallet too.

A collaborative design tool
06

Figma has done the rounds on social media this week. It's a new design tool that lives in the cloud and allows people to work on files collaboratively and simultaneously. The preview looks impressive, but it's still in closed beta. You can sign up now for a preview release.
