Presiding Bishop calls for a season of prayer
[March 29, 2016] Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry has called for a season of prayer for regions of the Anglican Communion which are experiencing violence and civil strife.
“In this season of Resurrection, I call on everyone to pray for our brothers and sisters in areas where there is much burden and little hope,” the Presiding Bishop said.
In addition, in his Easter Message 2016 (available here), Presiding Bishop Curry addressed the situation in Brussels, noting, "The truth is even as we speak this Holy Week, we do so not only in the shadow of the cross but we do so in the shadow of those who have been killed in Brussels, of those who have been wounded and maimed, of those who weep and mourn. And of a world mourning, and not too sure how to move forward.”
Citing Galatians 6:2 - Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ – Presiding Bishop Curry called for prayer throughout the holy season of Easter. Beginning on April 3, the First Sunday of Easter, and proceeding through Pentecost May 15, The Episcopal Church is asked to pray for a particular province or region:
• Burundi
• Central America
• Democratic Republic of the Congo
• Middle East
• Pakistan
• South Sudan

El Obispo Presidente pide un tiempo de oración
[29 de marzo del 2016] El Obispo Presidente del Iglesia Episcopal, Michael Curry, ha hecho un llamamiento a un tiempo de oración dedicado a las regiones de la Comunión Anglicana que están experimentando la violencia y conflictos civiles.
"En este tiempo de la Resurrección, hago un llamamiento a todos a rezar por nuestros hermanos y hermanas en las zonas donde hay mucha carga y poca esperanza", dijo el Obispo Presidente.
Además, en su mensaje de Pascua 2016 (disponible aquí), el Obispo Presidente Curry abordó la situación de Bruselas, indicando que: "La verdad es que incluso mientras hablamos en esta Semana Santa, lo hacemos no solamente a la sombra de la cruz, sino que lo hacemos a la sombra de los que han perdido la vida en Bruselas, de los que han sido heridos y mutilados, de los que lloran y se lamentan. Y de un mundo que lamenta, y no está muy seguro de cómo seguir adelante".
Citando a Gálatas 6: 2: Ayudaos mutuamente a llevar vuestras cargas y cumplid así la ley de Cristo, el Obispo Presidente Curry llama a la oración durante toda la temporada santa de la Pascua. A partir del día 3 de abril, el Primer Domingo de Pascua, y procediendo hasta Pentecostés, el 15 de mayo, se pide a la Iglesia Episcopal que ore por una provincia o región en particular:
• Burundi
• América Central
• Congo
• El Medio Este
• Pakistán
• Sudán del Sur
