Brexit@fsai.ie will be monitored up to 24th December and then from 29th December onwards for Brexit queries. Urgent issues will be prioritised for response. Composite food products - new eLearning moduleAre you struggling with composite product import requirements? Brexit - Food import requirements moduleThe information given in 'Brexit mini-bite: Importing composite products' reflects a recent update in composite product guidance. For those of you that have completed the Composite Product section of our Brexit - Food Import Requirements eLearning module please note that this module has also been updated this week to reflect the change in guidance. Please note the following changes that have been made to this module: Because of this change in guidance we have replaced the 'niçoise salad' with 'broccoli and feta salad'. The broccoli and feta salad requires a health certificate as the salad contains dairy ingredients of less than 50% but does not meet the requirements of Article 6(1) of Decision 2007/275 as the salad needs refrigeration (not shelf-stable) and has not undergone a complete cooking process so that any raw product is denatured. Any salad with processed meat or dairy (e.g. cheese) requires a composite product health certificate. Please note the niçoise salad example given previously does not need a health certificate as neither the fish or egg ingredient (fish (tuna (20%), anchovy (5%)); egg (25%)) were greater than 50%. The other examples in the 'Composite product - Exercise' remain unchanged, but further clarification has been provided in some of the explanations. The other main change made in the module is an additonal slide providing information on the documents that must accompany composite products not requiring a health certificate. The Action Plan supports and promotes the necessary preparations for the substantial and enduring changes that will arise at the end of the Brexit transition period on 31 December 2020. Regardless of the outcome of the EU-UK negotiations, a number of outcomes are already clear. The most significant of which is that, at the end of this month, the UK will be outside the EU’s Single Market and Customs Union. Time is short and action is required now.
